Seaford Gardening Club

Established 1986

The Seaford Gardening Club was formed in August 1985 by a group of local keen gardeners as a means of people interested in growing both flowers and vegetables to get together and exchange ideas and arrange appropriate talks by professional speakers.

Sadly, like so many local clubs, there were no volunteers to take over the committee and it was agreed that the club should close.

A final audit sheet has been prepared for the Seaford Gardening Club. Copies are available - please phone Anne Silk on 01323 491331 and she will gladly send one to you.

The final balance remaining in account comes to £3,556.26. At an extraordinary general meeting held on 27th April 2016, the 31 members present voted to donate the money between eight charities of their choice, as follows:

   1. Macmillan Cancer Support nurses (27 votes)
   2. Seaford Lifeguards (22 votes)
   3. Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice (21 votes)
   4. Newhaven RNLI (19 votes)
   5. Air Ambulance (18 votes)
   6. East Blatchington Pond Conservation Society (15 votes)
   7. WRAS - Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (12 votes)
   8. Seaford Community Garden (11 votes)

The number one charity, Macmillan Cancer Support, is the main charity of David Jordan Estate Agent, who has kindly prepared our photocopying over some years, saving the club a great deal of money - so many thanks, David.

A sad day when the club closed after 30 years - our members have enjoyed many interesting talks, Christmas meals, outings and 14 Newmarket holidays.
The committee would like to thank all past members for their support and good wishes.
