Monday 20th March
Seaford Twinning Association presents
A Fun Lifeboat-Benefit Evening with the Town Crier
7:30 at The Clinton Centre
Seaford Town Crier Peter White will give his talk "Town Criers and Bellmen Past and Present". Given around the county some 30 times, it's described as 80% historical and 20% hysterical! In his 41st year in post as Crier, Peter says "I've finally got a good idea what it's all about!"
In addition Peter will show his film "Crying for my Town", made by local Videographer Chris Conil, which illustrates events across 300 years of the history of former Cinque Port Seaford, acted out by a number of Criers through the ages. This film has gone world-wide on Youtube, to popular acclaim.
A musical interlude will be provided by Seaford singing group "The Pop-Ups". The audience is invited to bring its own drinks and glasses -- beer, wine, soft, but no spirits please!
Admission is £4.00, and there will be a raffle. Donations of prizes are welcome!
The Newhaven Lifeboat will be the recipient of admission, raffle and donations. The Town Crier's last event for RNLI raised £370!
