Seaford Musical Theatre Juniors
Auditions for a Young Actor in Bassett
SMTJ Community Youth Performing Arts Group in Seaford were successful in applying to be part of the National Theatre Connections Programme 2016 and were given a fantastic, hard hitting script to perform by award-winning writer, James Graham - "Bassett".

'At Wootton Bassett School the supply teacher has done a runner and locked the pupils in their classroom. Dean needs the toilet, Aimee needs a coffee, Amid needs to pray, and Leo… well, Leo really, really wants to escape. Outside, only yards from their confinement, a repatriation of fallen British soldiers is happening along the high street, as it has over a hundred times before through this quiet Wiltshire town. But this one is more personal than most. As factions form and secrets are revealed, maybe Leo is not the only one who'll want to get away. An exhilarating startling snapshot of a generation who have inherited a world at war.'

SMTJ are looking to fill the male lead - 'Leo' - a confident, manipulative and controlling young man.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a local young actor to be seen by a National Theatre Director - perform four shows in Seaford (The Barn Theatre) at the end of April before transferring to the 500 seater theatre in Horsham - The Capitol, in May.

There may also be the opportunity, if chosen, to transfer to the National Theatre itself in London in May.

Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings (7.30pm to 9.00pm) at the Barn Theatre, Seaford.

Any potential 'Leo's (aged between 14-21) should contact Director, Paula Woolven for more details.
